Your Will not my will…

Posted In: Quotes by admin

I was reading a post from a guy I follow named Rob Wegner. I read it and it challenged me today. It is so true and today God I ask for you to help me to see you in a clearer way, with AWE and reverence. Below is the poem that he posted…

Great and holy God
awe and reverence
fear and trembling
do not come easily to us
for we are not Old Testament Jews
or Moses
or mystics
or sensitive enough.
Forgive us for slouching into Your presence with little expectation
and less awe than we would eagerly give a visiting dignitary.
We need
neither Jehovah nor a buddy-
neither “the Great and Powerful Oz” nor “the man upstairs.”
Help us to want what we need…
You
God
and may the altar of our hearts
tremble with delight
at
Your visitation
amen.

Lord of the Rings Quote

Posted In: Quotes by admin

Frodo: I wish the ring had never come to me. I wish none of this had happened.
Gandalf: So do all who live to see such times. But that is not for them to decide. All we have to decide is what to do with the time that is given to us. There are other forces at work in this world Frodo, besides the will of evil. Bilbo was meant to find the Ring. In which case, you were also meant to have it. And that is an encouraging thought. ”

I say this quote over at Michael Hyatt’s Blog it was really cool. I was really thinking about this and it seemed to be something that really struck a nerve in my current season of life. Here are some of the thoughts i got out of this quote.

1. With Frodo’s comment I have been there. Don’t tell anyone but there are times that I wish I was not called into ministry. I know that seems crazy, but really ministry sometimes gets rough. I wish it was all altars, and parties but sadly sometimes it gets messy.

2. There are other forces at work in this world Frodo, besides the will of evil–As pastors we sometimes feel the Fact that Satan is in this world, but we forget most the time that God is doing something too. Jer. 29:11

3. All we have to decide is what to do with the time that is given to us–This is the challenge I have been feeling for awhile. So I have been focusing on making sure I am doing the best with the time.

So what does this Quote speak to you? Let me know…
